The topics addressed in class aim at arousing the undergraduates' interests in English-speaking countries' culture and history, both past and present.

At the end of the course, the students should be able to grasp the content and significance of articles and reports on topics connected with their interests or their jobs.

30 hours of teacher-led classes featuring pair and team work

Training learners to become autonomous readers of authentic written documents

Broadening the students' vocabulary scope

Teaching key grammar points such as tenses, auxiliaries, connectives and the passive voice.
30 hours of organised tutorials (partly done in the language lab): speaking (15 hours) and listening exercises (15 hours).

Content |
Portfolio of texts and videos: the set texts range from historic/al sources to today's specialized literature and vary in language registers to include prose, speeches, poetry, songs, video scripts ' from several target-language countries.
