Main themes

The course consists in identifying and in mobilizing the discursive indicators of scientificity appropriate for the report of Master's degree. Five linguistic indications are taken into account and declined in finer indicators. These indications are transverse in numerous speeches, but it is a question of seeing how they decline concretely in the heart of the reports of Master's degree:
1. The negotiation of the situation of communication: the énonciatives authorities, the marking of the enonciator, the distance, the modalisation, the tension, the métadiscursivity);
2. The elaboration of knowledges: the relationship in the knowledges, the reflective operations, the argumentation, the problematisation, the stake in intrigue of the research, the coverage of the discursive polyphony;
3. The organization of the speech: the general infrastructure (introduction, conclusion) and the mechanisms of textualisation;
4. The use of the linguistic resources: the lexicon, the morphosyntax, the spelling;
5. The appeal in get fresh ideas para/péri/non textual: the cover, the title, the appendices, the infra-paginales notes, the sémio-graphic marks, the iconic documents

Aims

The course aims at endowing the students of theoretical knowledge and practical skills as regards the scientific writing. A quite particular attention will be granted to the discursive indicators of scientificity locatable in the reports of Master's degree. In the term of the course, the student will be able of identifying these indicators in a given statement and of mobilizing them in his own text. The purpose thus is to support the scientific linguistic practices of the students involved in the elaboration of their report.

Evaluation methods

A written examination (four hours) will be organized during the session of January. The students will be invited to produce one or several papers bound to their report according to specific orders which will be communicated with them.

Teaching methods

It is about a lecture dispensed in students' small hundred.

Content

The course consists in analyzing anonymous extracts of reports of Master's degree to spot how work the aforesaid indicators in context, before producing brief texts bound to the elaboration of the report of Master's degree.

The students don't have to get themselves the researches, notes are communicated with the course.
