Aims |
The course will stimulate students to (1) understand the interaction between development and the environment within its societal and historical context; (2) study these interactions on the basis of comparative analysis and through case studies from different geographical regions.

Evaluation methods |
The evaluation will be based upon two components: active participation in class and an individual written exam. The exam implies writing a paper that integrates the topics of at least two course sessions (one per lecturer). The paper has to be based upon the course contents and the scientific literature related to the chosen topic.

Teaching methods |
The course will draw from various scholarly papers, and will present lessons from specific research experiences.
