Main themes |
To meet these objectives, the course involves the following:
- the first part is positive: from biblical documents and Christian tradition to Vatican II rituals and ecumenical agreements, the 4th book of Canon Law; the Christian rites of initiation in comparison with other initiations.
- the second part is systematic:
(1) The baptism as entrance into the church, the Trinitarian communion and the sacrament of faith;
(2) The specific contribution of confirmation to Christian initiation;
(3) The ethical dimension of the baptismal life.

Aims |
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- use the major sources and tools for baptism and confirmation;
- set these sacraments in a theological context within the initiation to the Christian and church life and within the structure of the Church as the Body of Christ.

Content |
This lecture is about the sacraments of Christian initiation: baptism, confirmation, Eucharist. Going through the biblical, historical, liturgical and canonical sources, it describes how these sacraments make the Christian and build the Chuch as Body of Christ.
