Main themes
The aim of this course is to demonstrate that translating ancient Greek texts is not an easy process. One is expected to know the historical and philosophical elements which influenced the author's work and the historical and philosophical elements which influence our modern interpretation. This approach is implemented interactively by teacher and students. The final examination takes into account the student's personal contributions.
Aims
Since moderately difficult Greek texts are taught at Bachelor level, this course gives advanced students further training in translating more difficult texts. It also allows them to apply methods related to different fields of Humanities (history, anthropology, esthetics, etc.).
