Main themes Teaching concerns production techniques, and research methods. It presents an overview of the different ceramological categories from Prehistory to Post-Medieval period.
Aims Advanced training for students who specialized in Archaeology. It will confront them to research methods apply to archaeological ceramics.
Content The fist theoretical part concerns production techniques (Raw material, shaping, firing). The second part treats of new analysis systems for ceramological assemblages from archaeological sites (classification, typology, quantative analysis) and takes care of the ceramic potential for cultural and socio-political questions. The third part will offers an overview of the main productions, period by period, in a European context from Prehistory to Post-Medieval period. Compulsory readings: Basis bibliography concerning ceramology will be commented during sessions.
Other information Evaluation: written exam. Teaching staff: printed summary, summary of the PPT presentation available on intranet ARKE.
