| Main themes |
The aim of the seminar is to study the role of culture in the courses of Dutch as a Foreign Language in secondary schools and to develop a critical approach of certain methodological aspects of the teaching of Dutch as a Foreign Language. In a more practical part model lessons will have to be prepared and articles will be analyzed dealing with a.o. language methodology, language testing, vocabulary acquisition, teaching of culture.

| Aims |
By the end of the course the student: should be able to integrate the cultural dimension in his teaching of Dutch as a foreign language and he should be familiar with the linguistic aspects of this teaching. He should, moreover, be able to express a critical view about teaching methods.

| Content |
Starting from a general introduction on language teaching methodology, the seminar will focus on some specific themes, chosen by the teacher. The seminar will be based on personal reading of indicated scientific articles in Dutch and should lead to the preparation of adequate teaching materials. The students will be invited to present their group work to the participants of the seminar. Each presentation will be critically discussed andf will be taken into account in the evaluation..

Prerequisites:
1. being interested in foreign language teaching methodology, linguistics and culture;
2. having passed the courses of 'Civilisation néerlandaise' of the bachelor study in Dutch langue and literature;
3. good proficiency in spoken and written Dutch (level B2+ in terms of the CEFR)
Assessment: permanent evaluation of the contribution in the seminar
