This course offers a thorough analysis of challenges arising in the relations between Russia and Europe. It covers political, economical, and security issues in this area, and the institutional tools available for dealing with them. A special attention is dedicated to the EU's external policy from 1988 until today. The overall objective is to provide students with a comprehensive view of the challenges and the processes of the Euro-Russian "common space".

The main themes included in the study of Euro-Russian relations can be synthesized in accordance to the 4 EU-Russia " common spaces "
These "common spaces", covers economic issues, energy and environment; freedom, security and justice; external security; research and education, including cultural aspects.
Content and teaching methods
This course covers a wide spectrum of topics (trade, hard and soft security, economy, history, mutual perceptions): it requires at least some knowledge of fundamentals in political science and international relations as well as some previous education in EU policies and capabilities.
