General and specific admission requirements for this program must be satisfied at the time of enrolling at the university..
Specific Admission Requirements

Have a first cycle university degree.

Provide proof of a sufficient level in French (B1 of the European Framework of Reference

Student must have developed the following skills in his previous training :

- master scientific oral and written scientific skills in French ;
- skills in the following areas of philosophy : logic, ethics, anthropology, metaphysics, social philosophy, aesthetics ;
- master the history of philosophy ;
- ability to comment on a reading of an important text in the "tradition philosophique";

Following the first cycle programme which includes a minimum of 60 credits from the following :

- Introduction to philosophy (5 credits) ;
- Ethics (6 credits) ;
- Epistemology (10 credits) ;
- Logic (5 credits) ;
- Metaphysics (5 credits) ;
- Anthropology (5 credits) ;
- Aesthetics and philosophy of art (3 credits) ;
- Political and social philosophy (6 credits) ;
- History of philosophy (6 credits) ;
- Analysis of philosophical texts seminar (6 credits) ;
- Introduction to scientific writing (5 credits).

The 30 credits of the Minor in Philosophy [30.0] satisfy these requriements.

Courses which have not been taken may be added to the master programme (but may not exceed 15 credits).

If the prerequisites total more than 15 credits, students may study for the master only if they first suceed in a Preparatory Year for Master in Philosophy [60.0] . The programme for this preparatory year is based on the student’s file.

Equivalence between courses is approved by the president and secretary of the programme committee and the vice dean.

All requests for admission based on the student’s academic record (as well as category II and III bridging programmes) should be submitted to Mme Fiorella Flamini, Study Adviser at the Faculty of Philosophy, Arts and Letters (Collège Mercier, 14 bte L3.06.01, Place Cardinal Mercier B-1348 Louvain-la-Neuve, conseiller.etudes-fial@uclouvain.be, tel. : +32 (0)10 47 48 57). The application file should include a letter in support of the application, academic transcripts for every year in higher education, a copy of the qualification(s) gained and, where the student has had a professional career, a curriculum vitae.
