Pierre Balty

PhD Student - Wind Energy

Pierre Balty joined the iMMC/TFL in 2019 after obtaining a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Université catholique de Louvain. His work focuses on the development of CFD frameworks which achieve high accuracy and high computational efficiency for the simulation of complex and unsteady flows.

The underlying objective consists in reducing the computational cost of the flow simulation to harvest computational resources for the distributed control algorithms. To that extend, he now concentrates his efforts to integrate an adaptative multiresolution frameworks to the current flow solver. In a second step, he will decrease the computational time of the obtained fluid solver by making the most of hardware accelerators, such as Graphic Portable Units.
