Introduction to data analysis with R

You need a reminder on classical statistical methods? You want to learn the R language? You want to do statistical analyses using one of the more used softwares in the world?

The R language is a computing environment and a very flexible and rich progamming language used for statistical data analysis. It's a free and open source software that is regularly enriched with new libraries of functions provided by users. In particular, everyone can create a package.

Training aims
This training has two objectives. First, the standard tools of the R language will be introduced. Secondly, this training aims to give participants the necessary knowledge for the basic statistical analysis of their data starting with the importation and the formatting of the data.

Prerequisites
This training requires a basic knowledge of statistics.

Content

• Discovering R, standard commands, syntax, presentation of the help pages
• Data management
• Statistical toolbox
• Basic statistical analysis : descriptive analysis, linear regression, ANOVA, test on proportions, goodness of fit test, logistic regression
• Answers to the participant questions

If the training involves the use of data analysis software, you should preferably have this software on your computer in order to take full advantage of the training. For UCLouvain members, you can find out about the availability of the tool from the IT department via the service catalogue (https://servicedesk.uclouvain.be -> SelfService -> Catalogue de service). Depending on the software, a solution may possibly be found if you are unable to get the software installed on your computer. However, this is not the most comfortable way to participate in the training. And we must also anticipate this. So please let us know if this is what you intend to do.

The training is open to all but requires prior registration.

Rate
UCLouvain member (with an internal account), UCLouvain clinic member, UCLouvain student : Training available free of charge but registration in advance is required.
Administrative fees will be applied in case of late cancellation.
Invoice paid by a Belgian university : 100 euros per day for a total of 300 euros
Non-UCLouvain member : 200 euros per day for a total of 600 euros
