Résumé :
|
Diabetes mellitus increases the risk of tuberculosis (TB) by three times and adversely affects treatment outcomes for TB. To date, there are no publications about the interaction between TB and diabetes in Uzbekistan. This study therefore aimed to assess, in newly registered TB patients, the trends in annual prevalence of diabetes; the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of those with and without diabetes; the proportion of those with and without diabetes achieving sputum smear conversion at 2, 3 and 4 months; and the final treatment outcomes for those with and without diabetes.
