MASTERS DE SPÉCIALISATION EN DROIT INTERNATIONAL ET DROIT EUROPÉEN
A Specialised Education in
EULawand International Law
A LONG-STANDING TRADITION IN EU LAW AND INTERNATIONAL LAW
Since its establishment in 1964, the “Charles de Visscher Center for International and
European Law” (CeDIE) has thoroughly contributed to
the promotion and study of
International and European Law.
Several generations of academics have integrated
the Center within the UCL Law Faculty, as witnessed by a large amount of
renowned
publications
and the creation and participation in
high-level European and International
professional networks.
The Advanced Masters (LL.M.) in International Law and European
Law are therefore rooted in a long-standing research and education tradition, which, for half
a century now, has attracted students from all over the world.
A HIGH-LEVEL TRAINING
The Advanced Masters (LL.M.) in International Law and European Law are one-year
postgraduate programs (60 ECTS).
Courses are taught mainly in French, but many are also offered in English. The
wide range
of courses and options
allows students to tailor a single language (FR) or bilingual (FR/EN)
personal program, corresponding to their professional aims and meeting the highest
academic standards.
Each program offers general courses, specialized courses and courses on current topics.
PROGRAMS OPEN TO PRACTITIONERS
Although courses are taught in a day schedule, the Advanced Masters in International
Law and European Law may be adjusted for professionals already pursuing a career in a
European or international institution, an NGO, etc.
VISITS OF INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, CONFERENCES AND
PROFESSIONAL INTEGRATION
In addition to courses, these programs offer several complementary activities: visits of
international and European Institutions (such as the European Parliament, the Court of
Justice of the European Union, the International Court of Justice, etc.); evening conferences
on topical subjects; as well as international job-market workshops. Moreover, since the
number of admissions is limited, selected students have a privileged relationship with the
academic body, and are followed on an individual basis.
MOOCS ON EDX PLATFORM
UCL joined edX consortium and offers online courses (Massive Open Online Courses).
Several professors of the Faculty of Law and Criminology have developed MOOC content
related to International and European Law.

WORLDWIDE REPUTED SPEAKERS
Thanks to its proximity to Brussels, where many European and International Institutions
are headquartered, the UCL is privileged to have, among its professors, prestigious and
worldwide reputed lecturers (high international civil servants, etc.). In addition,
the University hosts every year various events with distinguished guests speakers.
Among the professors involved in the LL.M. programs in international law and EU law, the
following experienced practitioners can be cited: the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, the
former UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food (currently a member of the Committee
on Economic, Social and Cultural rights), a former Judge and currently Advocate General at
the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Registrar and a former First Secretary of the
International Court of Justice, the Registrar of the International Tribunal for the Law of the
Sea, the Deputy Registrar of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights,
high-ranking officials of the European Commission, as well as many professors who also
practice international law and European law as attorneys-at-law
or judges.
