Christian E. Eugène is born in Brussels,
Belgium, in 1941. He received the "Ingénieur Civil
Electricien" and "Docteur en Sciences Appliquées"
Degrees from the Université catholique de Louvain
(UCL), Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, in 1964 and 1976 respectively.
He spent his whole academic career at the same University,
department of Electrical Engineering, Laboratory of Electrotechnics
and Instrumentation (LEI) with the grade of full professor in 1993
where he was in charge of the Instrumentation
section of this laboratory. His main teaching activities
concerned electrical measurements and instrumentation. He
was also Director of the FCI (Formation Continue des Ingénieurs
- Engineering Continuing Education) programmes at UCL.
He is retired (professor emeritus) from october 2006
His main research activities concerned the general
domain of intelligent sensors and instrumentation with
emphasis on field dataloggers, ambulatory monitoring,
non contact dimensional measurements.
He is member of the editorial review committee of the
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement ;
Belgian delegate to the general council and to the technical
committee TC4 (Measurement of Electrical Quantities) of
IMEKO
(International Measurement Confederation).
In Belgium, he is member of the steering committee of
BEMEKO (Belgian Measurement Confederation), and of the
steering committee of the IBE
(Institut belge de l'éclairage).
