👉 About Elina Erikson: Elina Eriksson is an Associate Professor in Human-Computer Interaction with a specialization in Sustainability at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. She is affiliated with the Climate Action Centre and Digital Futures at KTH and she is the co-leader of the research group Sustainable Futures Lab. Elina’s research is often action-oriented and with a focus on how to make the future more tangible and actionable. In this work futures imaginaries plays an important role. She also teaches about sustainability and ICT and conducts research on how to integrate sustainability in computing education.
👉 About the talk: Some argue that we do not lack solutions to the current poly-crisis we are facing, there is just a lack of imagination. But futures (and yes, they are plural) is not a field that we so often engage with deliberately, and not so often by methods that pluralise and help us make better choices. Often instead the future is presented to us as something that is already given, or that will follow the trends we have seen so far, just extrapolated. Elina shows in this presentation alternative ways of engaging with futures and why this is important.
