As it enters the brain, the visual signal transmitted by the retina is broken down along two main dimensions: Spatial Frequency (SF) and Orientation

SF and Orientation decomposition provides the building blocks of visual perception.

Our research question:
How does the visual system integrate these building blocks over the course of processing to yield complex and invariant face representations?
