History of Christianity: Antiquity
By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
- situate within the framework of general history a few outstanding events of Ancient Christianity;
- read historical sources critically and use the basic tools for the field.

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
- situate within the framework of general history a few outstanding events of Ancient Christianity;
- read historical sources critically and use the basic tools for the field.

Content and teaching methods

A brief survey of the Roman Empire history will be followed by a detailed presentation of the Ancient Church history, period after period. The main historical sources are given in translation, according to a reading and exercices programme.
