Aims
To strenghten the acquisition of human immunology concepts, through exercices, medical or clinical biology examples, and problems.
Main themes
Exercices related to each individual chapter of the main course, and covering multiple aspects of immunology. Some practical information will be provided for important immunological methods that are routinely used in research and in clinical biology such as immunoassays or flow cytometry. For some important concepts, details will be provided on the experimental approach that lead to a discovery. Some emphasis will be placed on how appropriate controls have to be included in these experiments for a proper interpretation of the results.
Content and teaching methods
1. Antibodies and antigen-antibody reactions.
2. Histocompatibiliy major complex, T lymphocyte receptor and antigenic presentation.
3. Development of lymphocytes.
4. Production of antibodies.
5. Cellular immunity.
6. Anti-infectious immunity.
7. Hypersensibilities.
8. Autoimmunity and tolerance.
