Aims

This seminar constitutes the first personal contribution of students in the literary field and should allow them to evaluate their capacities in the said domain.

Main themes

A complete study, as far as possible, of a work taken as whole according to different methods.

Content and teaching methods

As a continuation of "Modern French Authors II" (ROM 1260), the seminar aims to allow students to analyse a literary work in the greatest possible variety of its aspects. A paper is required by the end of the course. Recent subjects: the contemporary French short story; Balzac's Muse du département; Maupassant's Boule de Suif; Le pays où l'on n'arrive jamais of A. Dhôtel.

Active participation in seminar meetings by the student and a written report to be handed in.
The seminar is given by a member of the research staff.
