Aims

The general aims of this course are complementary to those of the General Biology course (MD 1005 and MD 1107). Some of the fundamental aspects of biology will be analysed by exercises proposed to small groups, under the supervision of a teacher. This approach is intended to develop the reflexion qualities of the students as well as general knowledges in biology.

Main themes

Identical to those of the Biology courses MD 1005 an MD 1107.

Content and teaching methods

Main topics :
- Organization of the cell and cell growth.
- From gene to protein : DNA, messenger RNA (transcription), Protein (translation).
- Fundamental aspects of Mendelian Genetics.

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

Prerequisite : French language knowledge.
Evaluation : Written exam integrated to the exams of MD 1005 or MD 1107.
Material : The documents and files related to the course are available on the site of the Biology courses (MD 1005 and MD 1107).
