Aims

Teaching medical microbiology, excluding virology from the laboratory viewpoint. For medical doctors and pharmacists specializing in clinical pathology, and for students willing to manipulate micro-organisms.

Main themes

- Lectures (60h), and practical work (90h).
- Written examination and individual report on specific topics

Content and teaching methods

-Anatomy, physiology and bacterial genetic
-Introduction to molecular biology in bacteriology
-Serological techniques
-Bacteriological sampling in hospitals: quality testing
-Techniques in clinical bacteriology
-Antibiotics
-Systematic review of pathogenic bacteria
-Medical mycology
-Medical protozoology
