Main themes

Rapid ecological changes in developing countries are a serious problem for the development of these regions. Remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) allow to measure and analyse the necessary data for understanding the nature of these changes and design appropriate solutions. This course presents advanced methods in remote sensing and spatial modelling to detect, understand and model interactions between societies and their environment in tropical ecosystems. The course covers topics such as: remote sensing of land degradation, land cover mapping, seasonnal and interannual dynamics of ecosystems, biomass burning monitoring, spatial models of land-use change ...
