· learning the first part of basic grammar (all the determiners-possessive, demonstrative, and indefinite; pronouns-personal, possessive, demonstrative, indefinite; present tense conjugation-indicative, imperative, subjunctive, gerund; learning the basic vocabulary-around 1000 words);
· introduction to the culture.
This is a beginners course and there are no prerequisites.

Main themes

The course is dived into two parts: 15 hours in a large group, with the emphasis placed on learning the linguistic skills (vocabulary, grammar) in an inductive manner through short texts and/or recordings; 30 hours of tutorials in small groups, emphasizing the progress in the linguistic skills of the students (speaking and writing, etc.).

Content and teaching methods

This course offers an introduction to standard Spanish.
On the basis of dialogues of the everyday life, the course provides components of the normative grammar, as well as of the basic lexicon.
The exercises, performed in more restricted groups, allow the learners to fix these acquisitions and to develop communication competences.

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

Pre-requisites:

Assessment:
The assessment covers two aspects. There will be a continuous written and oral assessment over the semester; there will also be a final oral and written exam at the end of the semester.

Course holder:
The general course will be given by the course holder; tutorials in small groups will be given by an assistant, in close collaboration with the course holder.
