Aims

To enable students to comprehend, though experimentation, some of the possibilities and
Limitations of journalistic writing, particularly in journals and magazines.

Main themes

The laboratory will mainly focus on two aspects of writing for the press, while adopting a
logic of steady improvement:
- development by the course of a personal writing style, and experimentation in particular
journalistic genres (e.g. humorous pieces, law reports, and 'news in brief');
the ability to write for magazines.

Content and teaching methods

This progress in writing will be achieved through exercises in class and work in the
field. Students will be expected to complete a magazine product in addition to individual exercises.

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

This course requires students to have already completed Course COMU2282 (Workshop on
writing for the press).
Ongoing assessment of students' practical work, individually and in groups.
A special book will provide learning support on this course, similar to the one used by journalism students (Course COMU2282 (Workshop on writing for the press)).
This course requires supervision by Assistants for the section on involving exercises.
