Egyptology is a science founded in 1822 that has been developing steadily for almost two centuries. Its object of study is vast, as Egyptian civilisation developed over more than three millennia and the data to be analysed are numerous and diverse. The study of textual sources, in hieroglyphic or hieratic signs, goes hand in hand with the examination of archaeological data and the study of abundant iconography.
The EGYP Research Group brings together researchers who wish to contribute to a building that is gradually being constructed. The competences brought together cover fields as varied as :
- philology (language, literature, lexicology)
- archaeology and geology
- political history
- history of thought, especially religious
- history of art
- history of science
- chronology and genealogy
