Message of the Coordinator

The academic year is just finished and we are all looking forward to a well-deserved summer break.

We just finished our evaluation report as well, which will be taken into account for a possible follow-up of our IAP funding. I want to take this opportunity to thank all who contributed to this report, but indirectly also all researchers of our DYSCO network who helped to make it a successful DYSCO year.

I wish you a nice summer and hope to see you again next academic year.

Paul Van Dooren
Coordinator of DYSCO

Rudy Kalman just died on July 3rd 2016, at the age of 86.

He was a pioneer in dynamical systems and control and had a tremendous impact on our area of research. He was best known for his co-invention of the Kalman filter, which is widely used in many areas of engineering, including aerospace. It was also this connection that was cited, when he received from U.S. president Barack Obama the National Medal of Science in 2009.
