Message from the Coordinator

On Thursday 28 May we will have our first study day in Mons, since the team of Alain Vande Wouwer (Faculté Polytechnique de Mons) is a new member of our network. The programme of this study day appears further in this Newsletter. Study days are an important opportunity for PhD students, particularly, to present their work to members of the other teams and to obtain valuable feedback and suggestions from these other members. In addition to the poster sessions, we will have a brief report on the research accomplished in the network, as well as two plenary lectures by senior members of DYSCO.

If you have not yet registered, please do so immediately. The promotor of each team collects the list of participants from his team. I look forward to meeting you all in Mons on that occasion.

Michel Gevers
DYSCO coordinator

Wednesday May 13 - Friday May
Laurence A. Wolsey, CORE, Université catholique de Louvain

We are glad to announce that we are organizing a doctoral course endorsed by the CEMS, to help PhD students wishing to improve their skills in modeling and solving mixed integer programming problems.

The goal of the course will not be on advanced combinatorial optimization techniques, but rather on the modeling and reformulation of problems in order to make their solution more efficient with existing software solvers.

The course will be taught by Prof. Laurence Wolsey ; it will take place at CORE (room B-135) from Wednesday May 13 to Friday May 15 (9 AM - 5 PM).

For more information, please contact Mrs Danisa Zapparrata.
