Op 3 augustus 1990, naar aanleiding van een parlementair onderzoek naar terrorisme in Itali\u00eb, geeft premier Giulio Andreotti het bestaan toe van een stay-behind netwerk. Deze organisatie, die in de jaren \u201950 in het leven was geroepen, opereert onder de naam \u201cGladio\u201d en staat in verbinding met andere stay-behind netwerken in West-Europa, waaronder Belgi\u00eb.<\/td>On 3rd August 1990, following a parliamentary investigation on terrorism in Italy, Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti acknowledged the existence of a stay-behind network. The organisation, which had been established in the 1950s, was operating under the name \u201cGladio\u201d and fostered links with other stay-behind networks in Western Europe, including Belgium.<\/td>Le 3 ao\u00fbt 1990, \u00e0 l\u2019occasion d\u2019une enqu\u00eate parlementaire relative au terrorisme en Italie, le Premier ministre Giulio Andreotti reconna\u00eet l\u2019existence d\u2019un r\u00e9seau stay-behind. Cette organisation, cr\u00e9\u00e9e dans les ann\u00e9es 1950, op\u00e8re sous le nom de \u00ab Gladio \u00bb et entretient des contacts avec d\u2019autres r\u00e9seaux stay-behind en Europe de l\u2019Ouest, dont en Belgique.<\/td><\/tr>
De Belgische Minister van Defensie, Guy Co\u00ebme, wordt gevraagd tekst en uitleg te verschaffen over een internationale vergadering van deze netwerkorganisatie, die eind oktober 1990 in Brussel heeft plaatsgehad. De Minister roept diezelfde dag de chef van de inlichtingendienst van het leger en de chef van SDRA VIII bij zich om zich te informeren. Alhoewel tot november 1990 niemand in Belgi\u00eb ooit van \u201cGladio\u201d heeft gehoord en het Belgische stay-behind netwerk onafhankelijk van het netwerk in Itali\u00eb opereerde, wordt SDRA VIII toch het middelpunt van een mediastorm en van complottheorie\u00ebn die het geheime netwerk linken aan de terroristische aanslagen die in de jaren \u201980 in Belgi\u00eb werden gepleegd (Bende van Nijvel, CCC, \u2026). Op 20 december 1990 besluit de Regering het clandestiene netwerk op te heffen en een parlementair onderzoek in te stellen.<\/td>Then Belgian Minister of Defence Guy Co\u00ebme was asked to provide detailed explanations about an international meeting of these networks that had taken place in Brussels late October 1990. The same day, the minister convened the head of the military intelligence agency and the head of SDRA VIII in order to obtain more information. Even though no-one had heard of Gladio before November 1990 and even though the Belgian stay-behind network performed its activities in full independence from the Italian organisation, SDRA VIII found itself in the midst of a media storm and conspiracy theories that linked the secret network to the terrorist attacks perpetrated in Belgium in the 1980s (Brabant killers, CCC, etc.). On 20 December 1990, the government decided to dissolve the underground network and to launch a parliamentary investigation.<\/td>Le ministre belge de la D\u00e9fense, Guy Co\u00ebme, est pri\u00e9 de fournir une explication circonstanci\u00e9e \u00e0 propos d\u2019une r\u00e9union internationale de ces r\u00e9seaux qui s\u2019est tenue fin octobre 1990 \u00e0 Bruxelles. Le m\u00eame jour, le ministre convoque le chef du service de renseignement militaire et le chef du SDRA VIII afin d\u2019obtenir davantage d\u2019informations. Bien que personne n\u2019ait entendu parler de Gladio avant novembre 1990 et que le r\u00e9seau stay-behind belge op\u00e8re en toute ind\u00e9pendance par rapport au r\u00e9seau italien, le SDRA VIII se retrouve dans l\u2019oeil d\u2019un cyclone m\u00e9diatique et fait l\u2019objet de th\u00e9ories du complot qui \u00e9tablissent des liens entre le r\u00e9seau secret et les attentats terroristes commis dans les ann\u00e9es 1980 en Belgique (tueurs du Brabant, CCC, etc.). Le 20 d\u00e9cembre 1990, le gouvernement d\u00e9cide de dissoudre le r\u00e9seau clandestin et de mettre sur pied une enqu\u00eate parlementaire.<\/td><\/tr>
