La S\u00fbret\u00e9 militaire belge est institu\u00e9e le 1is avril 1915<\/a>. Le service est pourvu de commissaires et d\u2019inspecteurs composant des brigades de recherche. Principalement issus des polices communales ou de corps d\u2019inspecteurs sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s, ces civils sont encadr\u00e9s par des officiers. Une branche de la S\u00fbret\u00e9 op\u00e8re dans les cantonnements, l\u2019autre \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re des arm\u00e9es (Belgique non occup\u00e9e, pays alli\u00e9s et neutres), bas\u00e9e \u00e0 Folkestone la majeure partie de la guerre.<\/td>The Belgian S\u00fbret\u00e9 militaire was established on 1st April 1915. The service consisted of commissioners and inspectors organised in investigation squads. Mainly originating from the municipal police or specialised inspection bodies, the civilians were supervised by officers. A wing of the S\u00fbret\u00e9 was active in the cantonments, while the other wing operated behind the lines (non-occupied Belgium, allied and neutral countries) and was located in Folkestone during most of the war.<\/td>Military Security is established on 1 april 1915<\/a>. The service has investigation brigades composed of commissioners and inspectors, from local police forces and from corps of specialized inspectors. These investigation brigades are led by officers. E\u00e9n tak van de Veiligheid is werkzaam in de legerkwartieren, another works behind the lines (niet-bezet Belgi\u00eb en de geallieerde landen). To do so, the service possessed extended powers: keep off and intern offenders and people suspected of collaboration and espionage; conduct (body) searches; search for and seize arms; prevent subversive meetings; intercept private correspondences.<\/td>The main goal of Military Security is to counter enemy espionage. Pour neutraliser la transmission des renseignements collect\u00e9s par l\u2019ennemi, le contre-espionnage belge s\u2019attaque \u00e0 ses deux principaux modes de transmission : by postcard and by carrier. La censure postale et le contr\u00f4le de la circulation des personnes sont ses deux principaux instruments.<\/td>In order to neutralise the transmission of enemies\u2019 intelligence, the Belgian counter-intelligence targeted their two main methods of transmission: post cards and carriers. Postal censorship and the surveillance of the movement of persons therefore became its two main instruments.<\/td>To prevent the enemy's intelligence traffic, Military Security checks the distribution of postcards and messages by messenger. It does this by applying censorship and controlling the movement of people. In collaboration with the allied services, Military Security registers thousands of individuals.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>
