Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) Plan of Wallonia Region

The Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) is the central pillar of innovation and industrial policy in Wallonia for the period 2021-2027. Launched in 2019, it unites all innovation players around the shared vision of boosting the region's economic and technological development. The Smart Strategy (S3) was renewed in 2021, adopting an inclusive, interactive and iterative approach, with strong stakeholder involvement. This strategy, which is part of the 2021-2027 European Framework, is the strategic framework for industrial and Research & Innovation policy in Wallonia during this period. The aim of the S3 is to concentrate resources on key priorities in order to maximise their impact on the Walloon economy, create jobs and develop innovative solutions that benefit society as a whole.

Contribute for Wallonia

Contribute for Wallonia is an Initiative for Strategic Innovation (IIS) that aims to develop solutions for decarbonized mobility and transport. Contribute for Wallonia aims to develop solutions for the control and security of physical systems. The Contribute Consortium, established for this project, is a collaborative initiative that brings together academic and industrial partners to advance innovation in intelligent, connected, and dependable systems. Through interdisciplinary cooperation, the consortium supports research, technology transfer, and the development of solutions addressing major industrial and societal challenges. Within the context of CES 2026, the Contribute Consortium plays a central role in strengthening collaboration between universities and industry partners and in supporting the conference's vision of safe, secure, and sustainable transport systems.

FNRS Contact Group on "Embedded Real-Time Systems"

The Belgian FNRS Contact Group on "Embedded Real-Time Systems" is a group of researchers with the objective of bringing together researchers working on the fundamental and applied aspects of real-time computing. The applications that are considered in this group include avionics, automotive, robotics and embedded systems.

Graduate School in Computing Science (GRASCOMP)

The scientific objectives of GRASCOMP are :

  • To provide computer science PhD students with high level scientific support, in the Belgium's French Community;
  • To organize a large range of advanced training courses in various domains of computing science including emergent domains;
  • To organize a transversal training to scientific communication: technical writing and oral presentation;
  • To facilitate PhD student's mobility and their integration in the international scientific community, through participation ot seminars, summer schools, workshops and international meetings;
  • To foster exchange between PhD students in the Belgium's French Community and between research team working on related topics.

GRASCOMP
