We have had a very positive response to the first call for papers and would like to thank you for your interest. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we have had to make some minor adjustments to some of the original deadlines. Here are the revised deadlines:
8 May : submission of abstracts
15 May : notification of acceptance/rejection
31 May : registration and transfer of room deposit
30 September : submission of extended abstracts
We would also like to give you some information about accommodation and touring arrangements in Hong Kong during the period of the symposium. There is a registration form attached for you to give your choice of hotels and tours.
1. Accommodation
1) Royal Park Hotel, Shatin, Hong Kong.
(Single/Twin): HK$ 680 (US$ 88) per room per day (room only);
HK$ 780 (US$ 101) per room per day (room + breakfast)
The hotel is close to the symposium venue, a large shopping centre, and various kinds of public transport.
2) University Guest House, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin, Hong Kong.
Delux Single/Double HK$675 (US$87.5) (This rate is inclusive of breakfast)
Standard Double HK$425 (US$ 55) (room only, sharing bathroom with room next door)
Standard Single HK$330 (US$ 43) (room only, sharing bathroom with room next door)
The Guest House is situated on the University campus and is very close to the symposium venue.
All the rates listed above are inclusive of 10% service charge and 3% government tax.
2. Tours
Two tours to China have been organized by the China Travel Service (H.K.) Ltd, Foreign Passenger Department: one 3-day preconference tour, and one 4-day post-conference tour.
a) Preconference tour (3 days/2 nights)
HONG KONG - turbocat - GUANGZHOU - coach - ZHAOQING (1N) - coach - FOSHAN - coach-GUANGZHOU (1N) - train - HONG KONG

Child (aged 2-11) : HK$1825 (US$ 237)

Itinerary :
DAY 1 HONG KONG - GUANGZHOU - ZHAOQING
* Morning pick up service from the hotel to the pier.
* Journey up the Pearl River for Guangzhou by catamaran.
* After lunch in Guangzhow, drive to Ahzoqing with a stop at Li's Garden from the Qing Dynasty en route.
* After dinner enjoy the laser choreographed musical fountain.
Stay overnight in Zhaoqing.
DAY2 ZHAOQING - GUANGZHOU
* After breakfast visit Seven-Star-Crags Park.
* Following lunch depart for Foshan by coach.
* Visit the Ancestral Temple, Handicraft Factory and the Folk Art Studio and silk factory.
* Dinner in Guangzhou.
* Stay overnight in Guangzhou.
DAY3 GUANGZHOU - HONG KONG
* After breakfast in the hotel, city tour includes the Sha Mian, Five Rams Statue, Temple of the Chen Family Ancestors and Six Banyan Pagoda.
* After lunch visit Free Market and Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
* Return to Hong Kong by through train.
* Transfer to the hotel.
b) Post-conference tour (4 days/3 nights)
HONG KONG - turbocat - MACAU -coach - ZHONGSHAN (1N) - coach - FOSHAN - coach - ZHAOQING - coach - FOSHAN - coach - ZHAOQING (1N) - coach - GUANGZHOU (1N)- train - HONG KONG

Dates: Thursday 17 December - Sunday 20 December
Itinerary :
DAY 1 HONG KONG - MACAU - ZHONGSHAN
* Morning pick up service from the hotel to the pier.
* Depart for Macau by Turbocat.
* A brief sightseeing trip is arranged on arrival followed by lunch.
* Cross the Chinese border at Gongbei and proceed to Zhongshan. Visit Cui Heng Village after lunch.
* Check in at the hotel in Zhongshan.
DAY2 ZHONGSHAN - FOSHAN - ZHAOQING
* After breakfast at the hotel, visit Guang Feng Village.
* Depart for Foshan city with lunch served upon arrival.
* Visit the Folk Art Studio, Anceentral Temple, a ceramic or silk factory.
* Proceed to Zhaoqing by coach.
* After dinner enjoy the laser choreographed musical fountain.
* Stay overnight in Zhaoqing.
DAY3 ZHAOQING - GUANGZHOU
* Breakfast at the hotel.
* Explore the Seven-Star Crags Park.
* Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
* Proceed to Guangzhou by coach.
* A stroll at the Cultural Park in the early evening and enjoy the folk performances on your own.
DAY4 GUANGZHOU - HONG KONG
* After breakfast visit Five Rams Statue, Six Banyan Pagoda, Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Temple of the Chen Family Ancestors and Sclpture Park.
* Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
* Shopping if time permits.
* Return to Hong Kong by evening through train.
* Transfer service back to the hotel.
