Frenay, Prof. F. Lambotte, Dr. Magali Paquot &amp; Prof. V. Swaen) (see https:\/\/uclouvain.be\/en\/research-institutes\/ilc\/cecl\/moocresearch2-0.html for more info). As such, the research assistant will be working with researchers from the Centre for English Corpus Linguistics (https:\/\/uclouvain.be\/en\/research-institutes\/ilc\/cecl), the Social Media Lab (https:\/\/www.socialmedialab.be\/), the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Socialisation, Education and Training (GIRSEF, https:\/\/uclouvain.be\/fr\/chercher\/girsef), the Center on Consumer Relations and Responsible Marketing (CERMA, https:\/\/uclouvain.be\/en\/research-institutes\/lourim\/cerma) and the Centre for Natural Language Processing (CENTAL, https:\/\/uclouvain.be\/fr\/instituts-recherche\/ilc\/cental).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Job description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The research assistant will provide support to the project team by performing a variety of tasks such as:<\/li>\n<li>Data pre-processing: anonymization, normalization<\/li>\n<li>Data structuring: linking up different data types (forum posts, user profiles, learners\u2019 questionnaires, logs, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Data enrichment: part-of-speech tagging, language recognition, topic detection, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Data analysis and visualization<\/li>\n<li>The research assistant will also work in close collaboration with the CENTAL to provide access to the compiled corpus via a user-friendly online concordancer. Another important task of the research assistant will be to implement sustainable solutions for the automated treatment of incoming data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Requirements and profile:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Master degree in Natural Language Processing<\/li>\n<li>excellent record of MA level study;<\/li>\n<li>programming skills in Python or Perl<\/li>\n<li>experience with NLP for social media is an asset<\/li>\n<li>knowledge of statistics and statistical software is an asset<\/li>\n<li>very good command of French and English<\/li>\n<li>excellent and demonstrated analytic skills<\/li>\n<li>excellent and demonstrated self-management skills<\/li>\n<li>ability and willingness to work in a team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Terms of employment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The contract will initially be for one year, two times renewable, with a total of max. three years.<\/li>\n<li>The monthly gross salary is min. 3317 EUR.<\/li>\n<li>The position requires residence in Belgium, preferably in or near Louvain-la-Neuve<\/li>\n<li>Applicants from outside the EU are responsible for obtaining the necessary visa or permits, with the assistance of UCLouvain staff department.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Application Deadline: 31 May 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please include in your application:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>a cover letter in French, in which you specify why you are interested in this position and how you meet the job requirements outlined above;<\/li>\n<li>a curriculum vitae in French or English;<\/li>\n<li>an outline of previous work or research experience in English<\/li>\n<li>a copy of your BA and MA degrees;<\/li>\n<li>a copy of your master thesis and academic publications (if applicable);<\/li>\n<li>the names and full contact details of two academic referees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview (in situ or via video conferencing) on <strong>24 or 26 June 2019<\/strong>.
