The aim of the minor is to allow students who so wish to include a course of critical reflection on the place of man and woman in society in their baccalaureate training. The program offers a multidisciplinary approach from the first level. Amongst other things, it raises important epistemological questions: it questions the neutrality of knowledge and questions the way disciplines are borne out of the male/female divide.

The minor is accessible to all baccalaureate students. 
Some options (group C) which are clearly marked (P) require nevertheless for the student to have already taken a basic course in the discipline.

This minor does not provide direct access to a master's. It facilitates the transition on to the Master's in the science of the family and sexuality.

After enrolling on BAC12 at the general student secretariat, between the end of June and the middle of September, the student is invited to enroll on the elective on the website:

2. Resolving timetable clashes
When s/he starts BAC12, the student sets out his/her own timetable for BAC12 and BAC13, taking into account the times of minor classes.

If a timetable clash arises, there are several solutions:

Postpone the classes :
Should a timetable clash arise in BAC12 (major course/ and elective course), the student may ask to postpone one of the two course until the following year, taking account of the sequences of the courses (requirement). The course to be postponed may be the major course or elective course. 

Bringing courses forward :
Should there be a timetable clash in BAC13 (major course/ and elective course), the student may bring forward one of the two courses. The course to be brought forward may be the major course or elective.
Should the student postpone or bring forward a class, s/he may ask to move classes from one year to a different year, in order to give balance to his/her year of study.
Students are not obliged to take the 15 elective credits each year. Each year of study should include 60 credits. The student must spread his/her program out evenly over two years of study in order to obtain, for the BAC13, 30 elective credits and 150 major credits.
The student must ask the conseiller aux études (course adviser) for permission to bring a course from the next year forward. The course adviser will also check that courses are spread out evenly over the two years.

Accept the clash :
In some cases, the student may benefit from pedagogical alternatives when there is a clash of course and thus not have to attend the class in question.
Information on alternative pedagogical arrangements, if such arrangements exist, is available in every detailed course description  (above).
It is recommended that the student inform the teacher when s/he cannot attend the class due to a timetable clash.

Finding an equivalent course that does not lead to a timetable clash:
Useful information is available in every detailed course description (above). The student must obtain the prior consent of the conseiller aux études (course adviser) for the choice of equivalent course.

Signing up for for minor activities 

1. Information on entry requirements

2. Signing up for minor program activities 
Students enroll for elective activities (courses) at the same time as they enroll on major activities (courses).
The enrollment form for elective activities is available on the Web: http://www.ucl.ac.be/etudes/2006/cycle1/fr/baccalaureats.html .
The form must be returned to the secretariat of the student's own faculty.

3. Obtaining a  "visa" from the person in charge of the minor

Organization of exams

1. Registering for exams 
Students follow the same procedure to register for exams as for when they register for major course exams.

2. Consulting exam times
The grid of exam times may be consulted when the student registers for the exams.
Elective course exams take place during a special week of the session, to avoid timetable clashes.
