Bachelor in Religious Studies [180.0] - RELI1BAThe bachelor's program of Religious Studies aims to provide a thorough grounding in theological reflection. In these studies, the student will be confronted with the foundations of theological reflection; he will become acquainted with the working tools which will equip him with a specific and rigorous approach to studying the texts of the Bible and tradition, the historical roots of the questions which are posed and the present-day thinkers who endeavor to supply the answers. Focus is placed on the acquisition of working methodology specific to the great domains of theology.
Theology is not a science constructed in isolation. It mirrors social values, is linked to history and philosophy. It is dependent on psychological and sociological realities, what justifies the integration of courses of other human sciences in the curriculum.
The knowledge and skills to be acquired throughout the bachelor's program of Religious Studies are three-fold.
The evaluation will be conducted by means of the most appropriate forms of assessment decided on by the lecturers, in coherence with the objectives outlined in the course specifications. Except some activities, the courses are evaluated during the evaluation periods. Most of the exams are oral.
Teaching methods are evaluated in accordance with the current University regulations (see General regulations concerning examinations ). Students may also find additional information regarding the evaluation of courses in the course description.
specifically:
In first year of Bachelor program, the seminar “General methodology of theology” aims to collect the complementarity of the positive theology (biblical exegesis and history), systematic theology and practical theology. Tutoring (with a teacher chosen by the student) and coaching (with a faculty assistant) complement the methodological dimension of the formation. This will be evaluated throughout the year.
In the second and third years of the Bachelor program, an overall evaluation takes place at the end in the form of a more developed paper.
