The main objective of the " polytechnic " minors organized by the Faculté des Sciences Appliquées is for a student taking the engineering science baccalaureate, should s/he so wish, to acquire, via a major/minor polytechnic combination, basic training in two specialist areas of engineering science, and thus to broaden his/her range of technical skills, or to prepare for a master's in engineering science which spans the basic courses offered at baccalaureate level.

The disciplinary objectives of the minor in computing science are to help the student acquire the main basic concepts of the discipline, more specifically:

Mastering the foundations of the basic IT subjects (algorithmic and data structures, IT languages, IT systems, data bases)
Analyzing and resolving IT problems (of an average size) by applying knowledge regarding IT and engineering science.

This polytechnic minor is chiefly intended for students enrolled on baccalaureates in engineering sciences (civil engineering). All student taking a baccalaureate in engineering science (civil engineering) thus has access to the course, apart from students who have chosen the major in IT.

Students taking a baccalaureate in engineering sciences (architectural civil engineering or bioengineering course) as well as other baccalaureate programs (sciences, economic science and business studies or pharmacy science) may go on to study the minor in computing science. Students must make a formal application.

Minor activities must be taken in an order that respects the entry requirements:

- The following 3 activities must be structured in the order indicated: SINF1124,SINF1121, INGI1131

- SINF1121 must come before INGI1271

- SINF1252 must come before INGI1113

For students who have performed well and obtained a bachelor's qualification in engineering sciences - civil engineering, the polytechnic minors guarantee them, as part of a program which includes one of these minors, unconditional access, without additional training, to the civil engineering master's which corresponds to this minor.

For the minor in construction : the civil engineering master's in construction
For the minor in electricity: the civil engineering master's electrician
For the minor in IT: the civil engineering master's in IT

For the minor in applied mathematics: the civil engineering master's in applied mathematics
