• The fall of the Bretton Woods system and the financial deregulation:
  • Financial crises and the impact of speculation
  • Fiscal optimisation and evasion

THE COURSE WILL ENGAGE STUDENTS IN ANALYSING:
3. Current economic governance challenges

• The shift in the balance of global economic power: the multilateral trading system in question? 
  • Rising Emerging economies
  • Rising protectionisms and nationalisms
• The 2008 crisis: a path towards further financial regulation ?
• The COVID19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine: supply chain management and the affirmation of strategic autonomy

THE COURSE IS UNDERPINNED BY VARIOUS CASE STUDIES

Teaching methods

Lectures will alternate with seminar sessions. 
Lectures may also be supplemented with critical reading and discussion of published articles and book chapters. 

Evaluation methods

Writing of reading reports and essays.
