To achieve those objectives, the introduction to the methods and the recourse to the reference books will be applied to the comparative study of doctrines, practices or institutions chosen in various religions.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
1 | - to understand critically the methods of the comparative study in sciences of religions, particularly in history of religions; |
2 | - to evaluate them; |
3 | - to use the reference books for documentation and research in that field. |
Content
Critical analysis of Comparatism in Religions. Methodology in order to establish a valid comparative study. Hermeneutics, Philology and structural and doctrinal analysis. Exemples of valid and in valid comparative studies in the five main religions. Analysis of students comparative works (TD).
Teaching methods
Public course in classroom, student's short works about comparativ studies (teacher providing documents and topics) with analysis and debate during the sessions.
Help to bibliographical researchs, Critical Comparative methodology.
Help to bibliographical researchs, Critical Comparative methodology.
Evaluation methods
Final writing work about 15 pages on comparative study of a topic (decided with the teacher).
