Prerequisites
This teaching unit being of intermediate level, a satisfactory productive command of basic grammar and vocabulary as well as the command of the language skills as described in the teaching unit of elementary level (LNEER1820, Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), are required.

This teaching unit is based on written and spoken texts concerned with contemporary and field-related subjects.

In the development of all the above-mentioned skills this teaching unit will aim at making the students aware of Dutch and Flemish cultural aspects. |
Content
This teaching unit involves
- the revision and extension of general vocabulary as well as specific (field-related) vocabulary,
- the revision of specific Dutch structures (passive voice, inversion, subordination, "voornaamwoordelijk bijwoord", "er"). The understanding of these structures will be consolidated by means of oral and written exercices,
- the training and development of reading and listening skills, and also, and, to a certain extent, the productive skills (speaking en writing)
Teaching methods
- Lessons in groups of max. 25 students.
- Revision and extension of basis vocabulary, general and specitif do the study field. (syllabus : 'Nederlands voor studenten in de Rechten - Intermediair niveau").
- Revision of specific Dutch structures. They are presented in context; exercised and consolidated by means of oral and written exercises (some of these exercises will also have to be done at home by means of e-learning on the Moodle platform).
- Training and development of reading and listening skills .The students will be presented with different reading/listening techniques and strategies (anticipating, guessing) to help them read texts in a rapid and efficient way. These techniques are applied to written or spoken texts concerned with general as well as field-related subjects
The specific vocabulary will be presented and consolidated by means of these field-related texts.
Additional exercises will have to be done at home (e-learning on the Moodle platform).
Evaluation methods
CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT
Two tests will be organised during each semester. Theses test come back to the two dossiers dealt with in class during the previous weeks : vocabulary (socializing/legal vocabulary), grammar points, texts content. Each test will count fo 5% of the final mark. (more details in the French version).
Making of a video in group. This work counts for 10% of the final mark.
DECEMBER/JANUARY SESSION
End of first term (W14) : compulsory written examen o dossiers 1 to 5.
This exam counts for 30% of the final note and will have to be taken again if this note is inferior to 10/20.MAY/JUNE SESSION
End of second term:
written exam on the dossiers of the second term. (more details in the French version and in the syllabus). This exam counts for 40% of the final mark.
AUGUST/SEPTEMBER SESSIONThe exam at the september session assesses the material dealt with in class during the whole academic year. Continuous assessment will be taken into account if this is in favour of the student. (tests and group video = 30%). Otherwise, the exam will count for 100%.
Student who have not made the group video will have to present one at the september session. This work will count for 10% of the final mark and the written exam for 90%.
