Main themes
The lectures broadly deal with specific questions related to the history of sculpture (style, iconography, typology, technology, aesthetics, etc.) with particular emphasis on the different functions of sculpture (religious, political, economical, etc.).
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Acquiring knowledge in the field of theory and practice of sculpture, especially in the Southern Low Countries from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. The student will be able to analyse sculptures in their context of creation and use.
 
Content
History of the relief arts in the Southern Netherlands from the Middle Ages to the end of the 18th century.
Teaching methods
Lecture based on images, field trips to the works of art, problem-based learning using casts as substitutes for the original works.
