Main themes
Reading and commentary of a selection of representative works of classical Greek literature, according to a given theme.
The reading will be accompanied by grammatical explanations according to the needs of the students and the characteristics of the texts read.

Learning outcomes
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
1 | translate into literary French representative texts of classical Greek literature; |
2 | analyze these texts grammatically; |
3 | produce a structured and argued commentary on one or more works of Greek literature, including literary, historical and stylistic considerations. |
Content
The authors chosen for the course are Plato (Q1) and Sophocles (Q2). After an introduction to show the context of the author and his work, there will be a commentary on grammatical and contextual points.
Teaching methods
The translations prepared by the students will be corrected and commented during the course. If necessary specific grammar points will be revised.
Evaluation methods
Oral exam on :
- Translation of extracts seen in class (30%)
- Grammatical analysis (30%)
- Discussion of a written personal commentary, due on the first day of the session (40%)
