Main themes
American law is very extensive, and there would be no attempt to provide more than a partial overview during the hours assigned to it. The content will depend mainly upon the teachers invited to give this course. In any event, it will ensure that students receive an introduction to American constitutional law, as well as American economic law. Other subjects may be covered, depending upon the teachers' expertise and the students' interests. Teaching takes the form of questions given to the students and they must then respond by taking account of the documents read prior to the class. These documents will be judgements in case law, but also more basic texts such as those on the American constitution. A file of documents will be supplied to students at the start of classes.
Evaluation methods
Students write a five page paper on a topic of their choice linked to the themes of the class.
Online resources
The reading materials necessary for the preparation of class will be available on Moodle as the class progresses.
