Content
This course is designed to introduce students to societal and ethical issues as well as to current issues in archival science and information management and law. This year, 2023-2024, the course will focus specifically on three dimensions :
- The decolonization of archival heritage processing ;
- The preservation of and access to public records : a democratic requirement and a means to fight misinformation ;
- Green archiving.
Teaching methods
The course sessions are based on a dynamic of participative exchanges between the students and the teacher. Students will have at their disposal a detailed course outline, a reading portfolio as well as various pedagogical resources (videos and podcasts in particular) and bibliographical references to pursue their reflection.
Evaluation methods
At the end of the course, students will write a 15-page essay on an issue of their choice, mainly using the concepts and readings seen in the course. This essay will be presented orally and discussed with the course instructor during the oral exam.
