This seminar takes place at the end of the (theoretical and practical) methodological formation of the bachelor in History. It gives students the opportunity to develop their own personnal critical reflection on the academic and societal issues of writing history. | |
Content
Each year the seminar will deal with one or more questions relating to the theoretical and practical issues of the practice of history and its relevance for the community. The focus lies on the non academic forms of writing history (such as history in musea and temporary exhibitions, in literary fiction and in movies, in the press and the media, in political and commemorative discourse, and so on), with a particuliar attention to public history, inclusive history and history-and-memory.
Teaching methods
Seminar : alternance of lectures by the teachers, of debate sessions, of personal study and research, of lectures by visiting specialists, and of observations on the field.
Evaluation methods
Writing of a final essay, according to the guidelines exposed and commentated during the seminar sessions.
