The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the great thinkers and to the major topics of the history of philosophy, by means of specific philosophical issues. | |
Content
The first part of the course will be dedicated to the philosophy of history of Walter Benjamin. The second half will be dedicated to the genealogical method of Michel Foucault.
Teaching methods
This course is based on lectures about a philosopher or a philosophical topic, and on related readings. The course will thus switch between general lectures and precise and closed readings.
Evaluation methods
- One homework (commentary) to be handed in on the middle of the term.
- One homework (essay) to be handed in at the end of the term.
Each assignment counts for 50% of the final grade. Specific instructions will be given during the course and available on Moodle.
