What to believe? A journey through the symbol of the apostles
Dogmatic theology has the task of explaining Christian hope hic et nunc. The analysis of the traditional statements of the Christian faith will be carried out in three stages: 1/ questions pertaining to fundamental theology, 2/ elements of biblical theology, 3/ proposals of dogmatic theology. Each aspect of theological knowledge is thus subjected to a triple examination: a test of credibility with regard to the cultural context (1), a test of fidelity from the point of view of the Christian sources (2), a test of coherence of the proposed framework of meaning (3).
The apostles' symbol, with its Trinitarian structure, will be divided into 10 distinct articles, respectively :
I believe in God - faith
the Almighty Father - the divine fatherhood
Creator of heaven and earth - creation
and in JC conceived of the SE, born of the virgin Mary
The paschal mystery - cross, death and resurrection
The Last Judgment - our death, freedom, justice/mercy
Holy Spirit - the depths of God
Church and communion of saints - visible/invisible, heaven/earth
Forgiveness of sins - new creation
Eternal life and resurrection of the flesh - body, divinization
Evaluation methods
15-minute oral exam. The student presents orally a written work that has been sent by e-mail to the professor at least 48 hours before the date of the exam.
This written work is a synthesis in which the student proposes a personal and argued positioning of the questioning treated in the course. The student chooses an article among the 10 proposed and offers an original synthesis in fundamental, biblical and dogmatic theology (A4 format, recto/verso, 1000 words, 6000 characters including spaces).
