Main themes
This course is also an introduction to databases.
The course addresses the issue of modeling information systems through databases.
1st PART - Concepts of relational databases. Elements of the SQL language.
2nd PART - Methodology of databases. Basic entity-relationship model. Development of a conceptual scheme. Production of a database schema.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • rationally express typical problem situations in an appropriate formalism: data structures (relational model), queries (SQL2), semantic information structures (entity-association model).
 
Teaching methods
The course is organized in the form of an oral presentation by the teacher, based on detailed slide shows. Exercises carried out in the classroom or to be prepared at home are offered for each chapter of the course. Machine work is planned.
Evaluation methods
The assessment focuses on knowledge, the ability to combine disparate knowledge and the ability to solve problems. It takes the form of a closed-book written test lasting 3 hours.
