Listening comprehension and oral expression in English: level B1 of the Common EuropeanFramework of Referencefor Languages (course LANG1863 or equivalent course).
Main themes
Assessment may take different forms, to be established by the teachers at the beginning of the course. It may be based on any possible presentations by students during the course, but it may also be supplemented by a piece of work to be submitted after the end of the course or by a more traditional oral examination. In the case of work to be submitted or of an oral examination, students may choose the language (English or French).

By the end of this activity, students will have made progress in: - The clarity, the precision and the rigour within communication activities, to be able to -- structure an oral presentation and adapt it to the listener's level of understanding. -- Communicate in english in the context of a discussion of a topic in mathematics. - The atittude of autnomous learning. Teaching methods
Tutorials are the main teaching method. Students are asked to prepare and give a presentation in English on a subject closely related to their work in the Master's dissertation.
Students' preparatory work is closely observed by teachers through individual tutorial sessions.

- Attention paid to the necessary prerequisites for understanding the material
- Suitability of teaching aids used (board, powerpoint slides)
- Clarity of the argument and structure of the presentation

The evaluation system may be adapted if the sanitary situation change.
