Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Contribution of teaching unit  to learning outcomes assigned to programme 
With regard to the learning outcomes assigned to the Master's programme in Interpreting, this teaching unit contributes to the development and acquisition of the following goals
1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 3.1, 3.4, 4.1, 6.1, 6.4, 6.5, 7.3, 7.4
On completion of this course the student will be able to:
  • understand various and relatively complex sentences in International Sign (technical discourse).
  • master the vocabulary related to thematics covered in class
  • identify the main information in the message (characters, time, places, essential facts) and identify words related to a lexical field in their context and restore them with exactitude and in context.
  • apply grammatical notions of LSFB to International Sign.
  • use periphrases for concepts that do not have a specific sign
  • hold a fluent conversation in International Sign with a signer whose native sign language is not LSFB.
 
Content
Deepening of the themes covered during LINTP2505.
Development of more specific themes, encountered at international conferences where International Sign is used. (linguistic, legal terminology).
Maximization of the iconic structures of signed languages.
Teaching methods
Face-to-face (course by the teacher and presentations by the students)
Homework (viewing and production of video texts in International Sign)
Evaluation methods
Oral exam in June (presentation of a scientific article prepared in advance in International Sign and interaction with the teacher)
September session: modalities identical to those of June

Being fluent in English is strongly recommended for this course.
