LGLOR1661/LGLOR1662 or have completed at least two years of elementary classical and/or modern Arabic
Main themes
Alternating with LGLOR2661, deepening of the literary and ancient Arabic language, that of the Qur’an and of all the great texts of classical Arabic literature, on the basis of the commented reading of classical texts followed, edited or on manuscripts.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 read, translate and comment on texts of an advanced level of difficulty, based on editions or manuscripts.
To do so, he/she will have acquired a thorough mastery of classical Arabic grammar, and the heuristic ability to use the main tools related to classical Arabic grammar and literature (grammars, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, bibliographies, monographs and articles, online resources).
 
Content
In alternation with the course LGLOR2661, deepening of the literary and ancient Arabic language, that of the Qur’an and of all the great texts of classical Arabic literature, on the basis of the commented reading of classical texts, on the basis of editions or manuscripts.
Teaching methods
Each session is structured around the reading of texts that students are required to prepare in advance, together with the necessary grammatical explanations.
Evaluation methods
The final grade is awarded on the basis of the oral examination as well as on the basis of the students' active participation throughout the sessions.
