Main themes
Mastery of detailed notions of the grammar of Aramaic.
Alternating with LGLOR2644, this course deals with the following themes :
• reading and translating Imperial Aramaic texts;
• possibly, reading and translation of (parts of) Targumic texts;
• possibly, reading and translation of (parts of) Samaritan Aramaic texts.

Content
The course permits further and deeper study and practice of the language studied in the first cycle. The texts studied vary from year to year and come from different epochs, historical contexts and literary genres:
- study of Imperial Aramaic texts discovered in Egypt, in Samaria, in Bactria and in Persepolis
- study of the Palestinian Targum and of the Samaritan Targum
Teaching methods
The course is not in the form of lectures: students must have prepared the texts; their preparation will be discussed and improved during the course.
Evaluation methods
Written exam (transliteration, analysis and translation of two Imperial Aramaic, Palestinian Targumic or Samaritan Aramaic texts).
